Olivia is a north Georgia painter and BFA graduate from Kennesaw State University. While painting and drawing mediums are a familiarity, she endeavors to use these to supplement the exploration of textiles and fiber.
Though Olivia has been drawing from a young age, the crafts of sewing, embroidery, and knitting were taught to her as a child from the women in her family. Without much practical applications for these skills, Olivia grew to enjoy turning them into something experimental and amusing. Her fascination with the complexity and historical significance of textiles and fiber is translated into her works today.
In a pursuit to find relatability in most things, Olivia loves to explore themes of interconnectivity and subconscious emotion in her practice, focusing on universal experiences. She retains figurative elements to emphasize this motif, as she feels we often perceive through a filter of our own experiences. This observation is what connects all of Olivia’s works, driven by a lack of inclusion in a small rural town.
